The
Cecil Township Municipal Authority was created by ordinance
number 4-1966 on May 5, 1966 by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
on May 23, 1966. Township supervisors created the CTMA with
the long-term goal of building and operating wastewater systems
in the township.
In the early 1980's, the Authority
constructed a treatment plant in Lawrence, PA to service the
Teodori Business Park and the Georgetown Estates subdivision.
Following that project in 1986, the Authority undertook a
project to replace the sewers in the village of Muse and constructed
new sewers in Brush Run watershed. The Canonsburg-Houston
Joint Authority treatment plant in Canonsburg, PA treats the
flows from the Brush Run watershed. In 1992, the Cherrybrook,
treatment plant was built to service the new Cherrybrook subdivision
located in Bridgeville, PA.
Today, the Authority operates two treatment plants; three
pump stations and over thirty-five miles of sanitary sewer
lines. The customers total over 1,800. |
